Adenocarcinoma of the prostate has become the most common cancer in American men and will be responsible for an estimated 27,000 deaths in 2007. Despite the magnitude of the problem, rapid progress in prostate cancer research has been slow, in part, due to the scarcity of adequate animal model systems that reproduce the spectrum of human prostatic disease. Therefore, the long term objective and Mission Statement for the Greenberg Lab is as follows:

a) to develop suitable autochthonous transgenic animal prostate cancer models to identify and characterize the molecular mechanisms involved in the genesis, progression, metastasis, and hormone insensitivity of prostate cancer, and

b) to develop and test novel strategies for prostate cancer prevention, diagnosis and therapy.

The purpose of this web site is to provide a resource to both the research and lay communities concerning our research interests and the development of our genetically engineered mouse (GEM) model systems including the TRAMP model. We hope you enjoy the site and find the information useful.
